I’d be trying to save gang members lives, trying to get them out of the neighborhood, out of prison, into the curriculum of Homeboy Industries. I met father Greg over 15 years ago in the California Youth Authority. I wasn’t ready to change. Then I went to prison and Father Greg came to visit me in 2001 and offered me a job and I came home April 8th, 2003. I look back now and I wish I respected what I had then as much as I do now, but it was so exciting. Now I’m here.

Failure is not an option. Never stop feeling or trusting. When you stop feeling or trusting then you stop growing. That was one of the wisest things I’ve ever been told. I use that in acting too because it’s a way to stay out of your own head. It’s a way to tap in to your character and make character choices.
